Happyness Francis Kimweri is a dedicated and energetic nutrition professional. She has practical experience in nutrition-sensitive agriculture, community mobilization, nutrition education and counselling, and project implementation. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), which she completed in 2024. Happyness currently works as a Nutrition Officer on the NOURISH Project in Babati District. She joined RECODA in November 2024 as an intern on the Kilimo Endelevu Arusha (KEA) project. There, she trained farmer groups and schools on Conservation Agriculture and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). She also helped to set up, manage, train and monitor Poultry Mother Units (PMUs). In addition, she led nutrition activities in schools and communities, including cooking demonstrations that promoted food diversification and showed the importance of a balanced diet based on the six food groups. In July 2025, she moved to the NOURISH Project. Her work includes mobilizing and strengthening farmer groups, working with agricultural extension officers, and supporting demonstration plots and simple drip irrigation systems. She also prepares implementation reports and supports monitoring and evaluation by collecting and entering data using KoboToolbox.
Happyness is a skilled trainer and facilitator. She builds the capacity of lead farmers, community health workers, farmers and school communities in nutrition, Good Agricultural Practices, Climate Smart Agriculture, Conservation Agriculture, VSLA practices and the Bango Kilimo approach. She also leads food demonstrations and village health and nutrition days. These events help communities understand the six food groups and learn how to grow diverse, nutritious foods in their own environments.
Her clinical and community nutrition experience comes from placements at Mount Meru Referral Hospital and Arusha City Hospital. There, she assessed the nutritional status of pregnant women and children under five years of age, and counselled mothers, pregnant women and breastfeeding women. Gender equality and inclusion are central to her work. She promotes gender-responsive practices so that women, men and youth can all take part in project activities and benefit from them.
Happyness is fluent in English and Kiswahili. She has strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and she works well independently, under pressure and in a team. She is committed to improving nutrition, food security and the wellbeing of smallholder farmers, women and children through evidence-based, gender-responsive and community-centered approaches.
