overview
About this position
RECODA and the French NGO CARI are hiring a Technical Officer to lead the organic waste recycling component of the Kilimo Endelevu Arusha (KEA) project. This is a full-time, 24-month position based at the Nane Nane grounds in Arusha, starting June 2026.
About the project
Kilimo Endelevu Arusha is a project co-financed by the French Development Agency (AFD) and implemented by CARI, RECODA, and MVIWAARUSHA. Running from June 2025 to May 2028, it works to strengthen the resilience of communities in Northern Tanzania against climate change and environmental disruption.
At the heart of this role is a compelling question: how can the organic waste produced in the city of Arusha be composted and recycled to restore soil fertility for the small-scale farmers who feed that same city? A Phase I study showed that markets and households generate enormous amounts of organic waste daily — almost none of which is currently recycled. This role exists to change that.
